Christmas Lights for a Magical Christmas Wedding

I love Christmas Weddings!  The venue is already beautifully decorated for you and you can make the most of sparkly lights and Christmas trees.  Everyone will be in a festive mood and it will make your Christmas doubly special for years to come.

From a photographer’s point of view, I love to take advantage of the early sunset which usually coincides with the time the bride and groom and family portraits take place. The light can be so flattering and there often some dramatic backdrops.  The shots of the couple outside their venue are lovely too, with the venue festooned in fairy lights.  If you are decorating your venue yourself LED lights are so affordable and easy to install.  You can ask guests to bring some along the day before to borrow for the day.  You could consider having a sparkler guard of honour instead of or as well as the confetti shot.  Confetti canons using metallic confetti also look great in low winter light.

Lovely artistic shots include halos of light in the background, starbursts and low key portraits using candles.  A good photographer will know how to set up her tripod and adjust the settings on her camera to achieve these effects.

A few of my Christmas weddings below are at St. Mary’s Church, Stannington in Northumberland and at Wynyard Golf Club with the lovely Laura and Alistair and Gemma and Simon.
